My Favorites: Hair Product Edition.

Welcome to my favorites!!! I am going to share with you a few of my favorite hair products that I use on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy and leave your comments below or email me (on my homepage) and tell me your favorites! The prices of all of the products will be listed at the end.
  • Heat Protector.
So everyone knows using hot tools on your hair isn't always the best thing for your gorgeous locks. But we all like to look our bests and heat tools can definitely help. I have been looking for a well working heat protector for the longest time and I have finally found one. I have been using TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave in Spray. I really love this heat protector. I spray it in my hair when it is damp after the shower. I t-shirt dry my hair and then spray in the heat protector then comb my hair. When my hair dries its really soft and I realized its because of the heat protector and when I straighten it, its actually really soft, there aren't a lot of fly aways, and it stays straight all day without any hairspray! I also really like Matrix Biolage Thermal Active Setting Spray. I use this for when I crimp or curl my hair. I have naturally wavy hair so my hair doesn't hold a tight curl or a crimp very well. This setting spray holds the curl in my hair basically the whole day. I spray this into my hair when it is damp and I let it dry and then curl my hair. The setting spray has a hairspray texture to it hence the setting part.

  • Beach Waves/Anti Frizz
I really like using Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray when I am having a lazy day and don't feel like doing anything special to my hair. After my shower I will t-shirt dry my hair and when it is damp I will spray the beach spray into my hair and then air dry. It gives your hair a beach wave natural look! This product works great with Herbal Essecnces Touchably Smooth Anti Frizz Creme. The creme works wonders alone as well as with other products. My hair is naturally wavy but it also gets very frizzy and this anti frizz works great! Add this creme into your damp hair after a shower and watch it work its magic.

  • Leave in Conditioner
Matrix Biolage Daily Leave In Tonic is a wonderful leave in conditioner and I swear by it! I put this in my hair after every shower. I t-shirt dry my hair and spray it in when my hair is still damp. I clip up my hair until I am done with my makeup and then comb my hair. This spray leaves me with no knots and my hair is really smooth afterwards. I have been using this product for a year now and I love it!

  • Smoothing/ Shine Cream
After straightening my hair I like to make sure it looks smooth and shiny and all of my fly aways are down. I love the product by BED HEAD TIGI: After Party. It comes in a cute hot pink pumper bottle. I use less than a dime size pump and rub it between my hands and then apply to my hair starting from the tips of my hair and working up to my scalp. I just smooth over my hair and then a\make sure any baby hairs are smoothed down by the cream.

  • Hairspray
Finding a good reputable hairspray can be hard to find. I hate when hairspray makes your hair really hard or super sticky. I have been using Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Control Anti Humidity Hairspray. It is super flexible but holds the entire day. I use this hairspray just about every day and I love it!!

Towel Dry Vs. T-Shirt Dry.

What is the difference between using a towel or t-shirt to dry your hair? A lot! T-shirt drying your hair will leave your hair feeling smooth and with less split ends and tangles. The saying is you are not supposed to rub your hair while using a towel to dry off your hair...but I noticed towel drying your hair isn't exactly the best thing to do anyway! Using a cotton t-shirt can leave your hairs smooth, less frizzy, and works well to enhance natural curls. Try cutting an old cotton t-shirt so it is as big as a towel and wrapping your hair when you get out of the shower, I promise you will love it and notice the difference right away!

*NEW* Body Scrub Recipes

Who doesn't love D.I.Y body scrubs? I just made three GREAT body scrubs that exfoliate your skin.I hope you all enjoy! Also there is a contest where you will get to win a free tote (made by me) that also includes your choice of any 3 body scrubs. See the bottom of the article for details!

Lavender Body Scrub!
- 1/4 cup baby oil
- 1/4 cup lavender baby bath
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup sea salt.
*Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate up to a week. Take out of refrigerator for about ten minutes prior to use so it can warm up to room temperature* This is my favorite because it smells soooo good. The consistency is more watery than the others but it is extemely soft and soothing to use!

Orange or Lemon and Olive Oil Scrub!
- 2 cups of sea salt
- 2 TBS of lemon or orange zest
- 1/2 cup olive oil
*Mix all ingredients together. This scrub does not need to be refrigerated because its consistency isn't as watery as the lavender scrub. It can be used up to a week and a half. This scrub smells delicious and leaves your body glowing! The sea salt works with the orange zest and exfoliates your skin getting rid of any toxins located on the first few layers of skin. The olive oil soothes and smooths your skin!

Tropical Coconut Scrub!
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sea salt
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
- 1 TBSP lemon, orange, lime zest.
*Melt the coconut oil in your microwave for about 45 seconds or on your stove until the oil is completely liquid. Mix all ingredients together and enjoy! This tropical scrub makes you feel like you are relaxing on a warm beach in paradise. The zest gives the scrub a beautiful smell while the sugar, sea salt, and coconut oil relaxes, exfoliates, and renews your skin.

Any of these products can be found at target, a natural foods or oil store, Walmart, or a grocery store.

All you have to do is write to me in my contact box(found on my home page) and tell me what should be my next tutorial, DIY potion, or what I should write my next article about! Know When To Toss Your Makeup!!

If you are anything like me, you LOVE your makeup! I get so emotionally attached to some of the products I have and use them down to the very last bit! But using expired makeup is never good for your face or your health. Many girls don't know that there are expiration dates to their makeup so here is your very own guide.

Concealer: 3 months to 1 year (depending on the brand. Most known brands can last up to a year especially if it is a bigger bottle. Smaller bottles may only last 3 months then become dry and flaky when applied to your face. Primers can also last up to 6 months or a year!)

Lip & Eye Pencils: About a year. It really helps if you have a pencil rather than a scroll up pencil to burn the tip with a lighter then let it cool down before using it. It burns the bacteria off of the eye or lip pencil.

Eye Shadow: Several years unless it starts to become very flaky.

Lip Stick: 1 year or 1 and a half years. Unless you notice they lipstick or gloss is drying or your lips!

**ANYTHING** If you have had an illness such as a cold, pink eye, or any contagious illness throw anything you have used on your face into the garbage! It is not worth keeping that bacteria around any longer. I use the sample brushes you can find in the pharmacy to apply makeup when I am sick so my brushes do not touch the actual makeup themselves.

Awesome Detox Bath Recipe!

Detoxifying your body through bathing is an ancient method that anyone can do in their own home! Toxins are excreted through sweating, a detox bath is thought to assist your body to help get rid of the toxins in your body while soaking up the nutrients and minerals that are in the water. This bath will leave you feeling renewed, refreshed, and rejuvenated.

Things You Will Need:
Epsom salts
Baking Soda
Large glass of cold water
Towel
Loofa
Ginger, Aromatherapy oils, or herbs (optional)

Steps:
1. Make Time, your bath will take 40 minutes from set up to drying off. The bath is set up into two sections. The first 20 minutes are to remove toxins from your body and the second 20 minutes are to absorb the minerals and nutrients!

2. Fill your bathtub with hot water. But make sure it is comfortable enough to sit in.

3. Add Epsom salts. Soaking in Epsom salts flushes toxins from your body and adds protein to your brain tissue and joints! It is very inexpensive and you can buy it in local grocery stores, pharmacies, or garden centers. Add 2 cups of Epsom salt to your bathtub.

4. Add 1 to 2 cups of baking soda to your bath. Baking Soda is known for cleaning and odor control. It leaves your skin feeling extremely soft.

5.Add ground ginger or aromatherapy oils. If adding a powder substance add 1 table spoon to 1/3 cup depending on your liking. If adding a liquid/oil substance add about 20 drops to your bath. Mint leaves, fresh rose pedals, lavender flowers, or chamomile are great add ins.

6. Mix your ingredients around in the bathtub with your hand.

7. Now it is bath time! Hop in your bath and relax for 20-40 minutes. You should start to sweat, this is just the toxins working their way out. If you feel too hot or light headed add cold water until the bath is at a comfortable controlled temperature.

8. Aim for the 20-40 minute span while in the tub. When you have reached the end, slowly get out of the bath. Your body has released toxins therefore you will feel tired. Step onto a dry towel while getting out. The Epsom salt makes your body slippery and to prevent falls step onto a dry towel.

9. You may want to take warm water and a loofa without any soap and rub down your body to get any extra dead skin or toxins out. Drink plenty of ice water and keep your body hydrated.

Christmas TAG!

So I decided to do a quick Christmas Tag since Christmas is only 15 days away!! I cannot wait to spend the day with my family! I hope you all enjoy this Christmas Tag(:

1. Whats Your Favorite Holiday Movie?
  • Mine would have to be, the Grinch because I grew up watching that movie all year round! It is the best.
2. What Are Your Favorite Christmas Colors?
  • Well blue but I guess that is a "holiday" color not a Christmas color, so...Red, Green, and silver!
3. Do You Like To Stay in Your PJs Or Dress Up For Christmas?
  • I usually stay in my pajamas while opening gifts. Then I get all fancied up to go out to my families house or boyfriends house!
4. If You Could Only Buy One Person a Present This Year Who Would It Be?
  • This is not a fair question! I love shopping for other people! I guess my mom. She deserves the world. She is my hero and if I could buy her everything on her wish list I would. She is my best friend and we are so close.
5. Do You Open Your Presents Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning?
  • Well my sister comes over Christmas eve and we do presents with her then, but the gifts my parents got me I have to wait until Christmas morning.
6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House?
  • YES! And it looked god awful. They are so hard to construct.
7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break?

8. Any Christmas Wishes?
  • I wish that children that cant have a Christmas actually get everything they asked for. I cant even tell you how much I hate seeing little kids who are poor and who cant afford anything new. I wish they have the best Christmas they ever imagined.
9. Favorite Christmas Smell?
  • The Christmas tree's even though mine is fake. I still love the candles that smell like the pine trees!
10. Favorite Christmas Meal Or Treat?
  • Anything and Everything. I am not really a big candy person. But I love baking, and I love baking dessert for holidays.

Sugar Lip Scrub!

Does the cold weather have your lips feeling dryer than normal? Here is a DIY lip scrub that can remove any unwanted dead skin and exfoliate your lips making them soft and feeling renewed.

Ingredients:
 1tbsp Vaseline
 1tbsp Honey
 1 1/2tbsp Maple Syrup
 2tbsp White Sugar (granulated)

1. Mix all of the ingredients together.
2. Gently rub a silver dollar amount to your lips & exfoliate!
3. Apply once a week for soft winter-proof lips

Battling Dry Hair This Winter?

It is completely normal for your hair to be try during the winter! This is caused by the bitter cold weather and the lack of moisture in the air. Many women go through this "dry" stage during the winter and ask if it is preventable. The answer is YES! No one wants dry brittle hair; Using heat tools on your brittle hair makes getting dead ends, fly aways, and burnt hair more of a possibility. Using a deep conditioner after shampooing your hair or a hot oil treatment before shampooing your hair once every week (or every other week for greasy hair) can make a huge difference. Apply a hot oil treatment into your hair while in the shower for about 10-15 minutes. Massage the oil into your hair making sure to get the ends of your hair. Deep conditioners also help dry vulnerable hair; Apply this in the shower as well for the same 10-15 minute time span. If your hair is normally dry keep the conditioner in for a longer period of time. These methods hydrate your hair making it softer and healthier along with a shiny look!
